One thing I love about your presumptuous comment is the fact that you've yet to even see Pine's performance as Kirk, and yet you've already made an opinion about it. The truth is, no matter how great Pine is as Kirk....he'll still have only played Kirk in one movie. Under two hours of film footage. The movie supposedly doesn't even focus that much on him, Quinto and Nimoy are said to have slightly more screen time. Shatner has played Kirk in 79 episodes and 7 films. At best, Pine will appear in two sequals. If you honestly believe Chris Pine will make people forget about William Shatner, I'm sorry, but you're kidding yourself. Seriously, do you think they're going to burn every copy of Star Trek that Shatner has appeared in?

Shatner > Pine

Have you seen Boston Legal? I'm sorry...I love Quantum Leap...but how many Emmy awards did Scott Bakula win? He won a Golden Globe. Bill won a Golden Globe and two Emmys. I'm not saying he's a better actor than Scott, hell no, but he is one of the most unfairly criticized actors ever in the history of film and television.

If Pine does the pause speech that Shatner did so well I think he will do just fine.

I totally agree!

He's a fine actor, with wit, charm, and excellent comedic timing. And he's the only actor to ever make me cry by saying the word "no" (in III when Sarek is mind melding with him and makes Kirk relive Spock's death--it was heartbreaking!)

And a final anecdote for your consideration:

The other day, a friend of mine was discussing acting and actors with me and starting talking about how he hated Shakespeare. "I hate how it's all like, 'I'm in... a Shakespearian... play... and I'm... so dramatic!'" I told him, "Funny you did it [in the "Shatner"] way, because William Shatner is a classically trained Shakespearian actor."

Fascinating indeed...

Hi there. I'm new also. I remember all that from Captain Kirk. He , William Shatner, has supreme athletic grace in all his moves. Very hard to emulate. Thanks for the great show.

Hi! Thanks for the great clip. What a tribute to William Shatner. It's easy to see the same spirit in Kirk that allowed him to sidestep the Kobayashi Maru solution.

Here's another video you may enjoy:

Space Seed Kirk Khan fight is my fave. Kirk owned Khan with that engineering 2x4 at the end of the clip.

Well selected clips, good find, man.

Scott Bakula was great in Quantum Leap.
Shatner is Kirk but a young Kirk can work with another actor. The Jury's out until we see the movie.
Opinion was and still is divided over Ewan McGregor and his Obi-Wan...
