For some people who complain about Trek, one reason is that they find the fact that doors make loud noise in the future rather stupid.
But I believe I have the reason.
In order to know when anything is entering or exiting a room, they have the doors make a noise.
Imagine there is an intruder aboard. They are undetected.
NO Door Noise: They can slip in and out of rooms without detection.
Door Noise: Squeeek. Someone turns around, sees them, Redshirt dies, someone else saves the day.
