Default Anyone else keep their old PC when they get a new one?

I bought a USB exterior DVD for my old PC yesterday. I got it out, got it hooked up, disk cleaned it, defragged it, and lo and behold, I was back on an XP computer, this time with DVD capability. I had bought "Neverwinter Nights", about six months ago, but it wasn't compatible with Vista and my old pc only had CD drives, so last night was the first time I ever played it. It was AWESOME! I can't believe I never played it before, what a peach! I had more fun playing an RPG than I've had in a long, long time. Man I'm glad I kept the old beast. And best of all, was telling my anti-virus software where it could shove it. That machine will never see the internet again. It's a pure pleasure machine now. And I'm lovin' it!

The laptop I'm using now is the first home computer I've had, I don't know what I would do with it when the time comes to replace it!

I suppose being a Mac snob (not really though), I had assumed that the ''love'' for an old Mac was like that for a classic car. While it may not run and sit in the garage on blocks (or under the desk in this case), it's just too hard to part with.

In my case, being somewhat of a Mac expert (in my own mind), I have a Power Mac G4 ''Sawtooth'', a Power Mac G5 and a brand new 17-inch MacBook Pro all playing on the same network. Sure that old ''Sawtooth'' doesn't have the processing muscle of the later models but it makes a much cheaper under the desk heater and draws less electricity than a portable heater...and it gives me hard drive space on the network.

Oh, I forgot to mention the Dell XPA 410 running Windows XP in the other room.

I'd like to try Mac next time around but it's generally the price that makes me think twice.

Funny I just recharged my wife old laptop with Win98 and despite having to reset teh time, it works great.

But then again I still play on my Amiga 500 and Commodore 64 and no, I do not get rid of my old systems.
