What I mean is that only the viewer knows Garrett didn't lead the C into it's final battle. No-one else does (unless Sela was told by her mother and happened to mention it to Picard) so there's no-one to record it in Starfleet history.

Well, speaking of holes in history, I realize some people don't acknowledge ENT, but do you really think that there was only 1 Starship Enterprise before the 1701? I mean, even if you discount the NX and include the Ring Ship...that's a long period of time without a commissioned vessel bearing the name Enterprise.

I do....I think the Enterprise earned it's lineage and that started with 1701 as a space ship.
And lets face it. The motion picture makes it clear that Kirk knows of only one space ship, a shuttle, and the biggest carrier with the most reactors of any ship in history. ("Eight Reactors none Faster")

I think history was altered.

So, there was a ring ship in the 22nd Century, "Declaration Class" or whatever it was called, then it was retired and there was no other Enterprise until 2245...

I deeply care about Captian Archer. He is far more important than a footnote. He was noted as the greatest explorer of the 22nd century according to "In a Mirror Darkly" respectivley, if you don't care for him, it doesn't mean Star Trek sweep him under the rug. I really love Enterprise, and so do alot of other Trekkies. PEACE

I've excluded April, Archer, Jellico, Riker etc....on account of them being respectively non-canon, crap, temporary (x2).
As I said, you can't exclude Archer, he was captian of the first ship called Enterprise. With all due respect, he was captian in the 22nd century for 10 years so we can't just say it didn't happen.

History was altered...unless the image of the Aircraft carrier swaps with the WWII version and the Nuclear Version and the shuttle also switches with the Virgin Galactic Enterprise.

Scary thing is, I remember reading somewhere that they were interviewing an Admiral about the retirement of the CVN-65 and asked if they were going to name another vessel Enterprise, and he said something to the effect of "Star Trek has rendered the name a joke, so no, there will never be another naval vessel named Enterprise."

Thats harsh, I suppose the Admiral doesn't like Star Trek?

I can exclude him.

I count Federation captains only.
