Default Captain's of the Enterprise? How many Ships?

We know Captain Pike is in the film and Kirk will become Captain someday. I'd be curious to know if there will be any mention of Captain Archer in the new film.

The real question I have is what are the names of ALL the captains of the Enterprise from the Star Trek Universe? The ones who we have seen and the ones just mentioned. How many came before Pike and may be mentioned in the new film?

Also, how many Starshp Enterprises have there been? What happend to each one to make it necessary for a new one to be made ..... Destroyed or Moth-balled?

I don't care about Captain Archer. I don't see why anyone would. He was a footnote in the Captains of Star Trek.

But the Original Enterprise had five captains alone.

Archer then April followed by Pike then Kirk. Decker took over but didnt log a star as it was in DryDock, then Kirk took over again. Spock for a short while, followed by Kirk again.

Enterprise B - Captain Harriman (generations)
C - Captain Rachel Garret (Yesterdays Enterprise)
D captain Picard, Capatin Riker (Best of Both Worlds I&II), Captain jellico (Chain of Command)
E captain Picard

We have also seen a variation of D which was captained by Riker (Parralles & All Good Things), and we have seen a J but we dont know the captain.

But history never recorded that, because the timeline was reset. Officially Garrett was the only Captain the C had.

As far as I'm aware Captain April has only appeared in TAS so he actually can't be considered canon. I'm not really up to speed on the dates so don't know if this film will confirm Pike as the first captain (of NCC-1701) or if there will be a slight nod to Captain April to finally awknowledge him in the "official" Trek canon.

Christopher Pike, James Kirk, John Harriman, Rachel Garrett, Jean Luc Picard.

I've excluded April, Archer, Jellico, Riker etc....on account of them being respectively non-canon, crap, temporary (x2).

Ah ,but Jellico officially took over, he was the official legitimate Captain for the (brief) duration he had onboard. He has to be included, like him or not.

There was another starship Enterprise somewhere between the OV-101 and the NCC-1701 (see TMP picture in rec room)

Doesn't canon trump history.
