In universe A, he was promoted to Fleet Captain, and while making an inspection tour of a cadet training vessel, horribly injured by Deltoid Radiation and confined to a wheelchair. Eventually he was taken back to Talos 4 by Mr. Spock to live out the rest of his days in a hospice of illusion.

In universe B - We'll find out come May.

I hope they don't stick with canon on Pike's wheelchair. He only had two freakin' lights to talk with . . yes and no. Let's hope JJ uses a little imagination to cook him up a better Pikemobile.

True 'dat. Stephen Hawking had a better setup in the 1990s.

It actually makes you wonder why in Trek they didn't think of something much more sophisticated and easier for him to communicate by.

Kevin, I think part of the point was that Pike was helpless to communicate or help himself, which is why he needed Spock to do all the work. Re-airing the edited pilot had to work through Spock as the only retained cast member linking the two 'versions'.
