As far as I am concerned this is a reboot, which is being billed as an "Altered Timeline" solely for the purposes of attempting to appease some of us Saint.

I can deal with it as an alternate timeline or alternate universe type movie. That would be fine. But to try to say that this movie will be part of the established Trekverse is completely ludricous.

I don't know either, to be honest. BUTTT I don't feel misled by the filmmakers.

The basic context of the ST universe is still there...The Federation, The Enterprise (even it's profile, can you imagine if they had redone it to look like something out of Starship Troopers...you think you're ****ting a brick now??), the trio of Spock, Kirk and McCoy.

I suppose I am taking a glass half-full approach with 'canon'. I am looking at everything that they did keep consistent, despite some things being different. The other viewpoint, which I think you share, is looking at everything they aren't keeping consistent.

Not to say it could've been worse from a glass half-empty perspective, but it could have been a lot worse.

You guys should try being a little more optimistic until you at least see the entire film and then can make a judgement.

I'm fully aware they could have done much worse.

As I have stated elsewhere...I really am of two minds on this movie, part of me wants to go see it and enjoy it as a fun 2 hours of entertainment, the other wants to hunt down everyone involved with the project and shove tribbles down their throats...
