The difference is that Batman is not like Star Trek. If Batman had any simblance of serious continuity, Bruce Wayne would be 70+ years old and no longer able to be Batman (yes, I have seen "Batman Beyond"). The DC Comics universe has to be "Rebooted" every few years to keep the characters in their prime. That's not the case with Star Trek. All series' (except ENT) have followed a forward progression of time. Therefore, there is a history that should be adhered to. Star Trek XI is not adhering to the established history. That's the problem I have.

I disagree about rebooting Trek for reasons I have stated before. On the other hand, one franchise that should not have been touched is Knight Rider. It was fine in its semi-comatose state, and David Hasselhoff is, well, see for yourself . . .
