It would be perfectly reasonable for Sybok to be shown. Or, perhaps he'll be mentioned when Spock is before that tribunal we see in the trailer...maybe the Vuclan counsel will express hope he doesn't follow his brother's example.
Wow, that's cool. I hope to see him now. Fantastic post, thank you so much.

Trivia Question: Was TOS a "desilu production"? The actor who played Sybock is Desi and Lucy's son-in-law? .... I honestly don't know the answer.

Thank you. Yes, TOS was a Desilu production. I never did the math about Laurence Lukinbill being married to Luci Arnaz, but you're right.

As much as I like the character and would love to see him in the new film his name is not listed on the IMDB. With everything they are probably trying to cram into the legnth of the film we'll be lucky to hear his name mentioned.

Could be a surprise cameo but that is doubtful since there aren't that many fans of Sybok like me out there (Are there?) so I'm pretty sure he would be listed as a character.

With all respect to the character's fans, I don't see the sidetrack of Sybok being revisited by Abrams, Orci & Kurtzman. The mound of exposition created to explain away the character in the first place just isn't 'worth' shouldering in a new story... especially not if the character has no payoff in the franchise until decades down the road.
