Post Kes

This is an excerpt from the Memory Alpha article on Jennifer Lien:

Stephen Edward Poe states that in 1997, when producers were ironing out the details of the introduction of Seven of Nine, they had already lined up Garrett Wang (Harry Kim) to take the bullet. Then that year, Wang was chosen by People Magazine as one of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the World". Suddenly Wang was in, and Lien was out.

I, for one, would've rather seen Kim leave than Kes. I think Kes had a lot of potential as a character (granted, if the writers didn't mess her character up). I didn't like Fury all that much. She morphed into this semi-omnipotent energy being in The Gift and suddenly she's back as this little old lady who's pissed off at Janeway for letting her leave. It didn't make much sense to me.

Well, they may have kept Garrett, but the joke was on him.

Harry was on the bridge of that ship for 7 years, and Janeway never promoted him.

And Kes was not that bad, I think if the writers could have separated her from Neelix, she could have grown more.

history shall not forget star trek but if we stop talking and if we stop uniting and stop caring about star trek it will be forgotten. lets not so that future generations will not forget these great shows and movies.

I am very glad Kes left she was always to sensetive, she would cry about almost everything and she never was very strong. I am also glad that they replaced her with Seven. Seven had more to offer the the series, being an ex-borg and everything. Although they did too many episodes about her.

yeah she might be....but one of my favorite things she ever did was to secretly extend the 29 hour flu illness that the doctor had programmed on himself to see how it felt.

It was in the second season, cant remember the episode.

I liked Kes. There's nothing wrong with being more emotional than other people, a lot of Star Trek episodes are about how emotions and compassion are what makes us human.

I do, however, think it was a good idea for her to leave. The writers had no idea what to do with her and she was just going to go to waste anyway.
