Anyway, a nice inside-joke and we likely will get more, like the "little blonde lab technician" or something like that.
That's all I meant

Agreed. I would even like to go so far as to make mention of one or two other members of Enterprise, like it would be very easy for Hoshi Sato to be given an omage or even Trip Tucker the great engineer. I would even think it very nice to have a cameo of T'Pol, the hottest Vulcan to have ever have lived, she could very well be alive at the launching of the NCC 1701

I think we'd all love to see a cameo of Archer (launch day of the E) or T'Pol (scene on Vulcan of course), Riker or Picard during the 24th century part of the movie if there is any, Carol Marcus or Gary Mitchell (at the Academy). But the risk of doing more than subtle references to previous Trek is that the movie might go into an hommage direction or feel like it has not the power to stand on its own feet.

Here is the problem...that line is exactly that, a line, and it's just about an Archer, who happens to have a beagle. Is it meant as a reference...most assuredly it's in there as a nod, but is it a direct concrete tie in...no. We went through this mess with Nemesis, because one of the ships is called the Archer. A bunch of folks, who don't count ENT as part of the universe basically said, "Doesn't mean anything, could be named after the constellation, the profession, the planetary system, or somebody else named Archer."

I think all of the "nods" to canon are going to fall into this category. Little tidbits that we, the die hard fans, will recognize the reference, but to anybody else watching, it will just disappear into the background of the general dialogue.

Found this tibit at http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Robert_April...

"Unused material for Jonathan Archer's bio featured in ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II" stated that Archer passed away one day following the christening of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) in 2245. If canonical, it suggests that April and Archer knew each other."

T'pol is the president of the federation during the original series she would be only one hundreds and sixty years old. Established in episode journey to babel

When do they mention T'Pol in Journey to Babel? I've seen that episode dozens of times, I'm pretty sure I would have noticed that.

The princess (which struck me as odd, never heard of Vulcan royalty of any kind before TFF) would have been Sarek's first wife, Amanda (Spock's mother) his second and Perrin his third. For a Vulcan, Sarek was apparently quite the mack daddeh.

I don't recall T'Pol ever being mentioned. You may be thinking of T'Pau, but she's Vulcan's high muckity-muck something-or-other, no mention of either woman ever being President of the Federation or anything like it.
