Very nice deſktop Pictures!

The only Iſſue I've had with them were the black Bars, ſo I did up a couple Verſions that pull the Picture out to the Edges of the Screen quite elegantly, if I do ſay ſo myſelf.

Click here to ſee a Liſting of the edited Photos.

Let me know what you think, and of Courſe, feel free to poſt them (or to link to them) from NCC1701Shipyard.com !

Thanks, although I probably ſhould clarify: the edited Verſions are what I have on my 20" iMac Screen right now. The Computer randomly chooses one Image every 15 Minutes, and having the Colour go all the way to the edge of the Screen really makes the Picture pop!

They look good for the most part except the ones where their heads are mirrored in the blurred section (looks odd to me). But overall they look great. I tried to solve the black bar thing however with the full screen versions (linked at the bottom of the page).

Yeah; you cut off the Sides. That's the ſame Thing Editors do when turning a wideſcreen Movie into a fullſcreen DVD: pan-and-ſcan.

As for the Pictures looking odd when the characters' Heads are mirrored in the blurred Section, I will agree that it may be diſtracting to ſome; but different Strokes… Alſo I only had to work with what I was given; there was no extra Ceiling to edit in or I might have tried it.

Maybe something like this...

For the area above their heads I only took a portion of the image to the left of Spocks head, stretched it out, then blurred it.

Yeah, you could do that, but it doesn't have the same effect. By stretching the actual picture, it gives the illusion of the original image being the right size for the screen. Also, it looks like you put a drop shadow behind the screencap, on top of the blurred section. I'm not digging that as it has a similar quality.

What would still look good, however, would be to keep the drop shadow and then stretch the back image both vertically and horizontally, which would keep the back image from being distorted, like the following (I only did two this time 'round).

See if this makes a difference for you…

Cheers!

I think your original versions were best. The reason for the black bars was to provide the original format images and then let people do with them as they want (like you did). I might just create another page however with your versions. How would you want to be credited?
