Chill m8, we have not seen the worst yet Was'nt there someone who asked why J Kirk [Shatner] did not look like J Kirk [Chris Pike] Though it was a question in jest i suppose.

Dude is standing right next to it. Honestly, it doesn't even look that big. It seems big, he's standing pretty close to it.

If he was right next to it we would be looking up to see the top of the Enterprise. Remeber the pictures of Voyager on the Ground and the Enterprise and Voyager are very similar in length.

These are from similar distances....Voyager is even taller than the Enterprise and she is small from a ground distance. You see the detail on the Hull of the Voyager...the windows in the second image...just imagine pulling back a little more and the Enterprise and Voyager pictures would be the same...only the Enterprise...you can't see any hull detail....that ship is occupy and area the size of a Galaxy Class Starship!!!

In the first one, according to Spock (later in that same video), the effect of pon farr had ended as soon as he thought he'd killed Kirk*. So no, he was no longer under its influence and that doesn't work as an excuse. The writers very obviously intended this outburst as exposition to show the audience, in a comic way, just how attached to Kirk Spock really was.

As for Psi 2000, it may have weakened Spock's stoic fortitude, but it didn't catalyze the breakdown - Spock was crying for a very specific reason; namely, his inability to articulate his feelings towards his mother.

According to the information we have so far, in the new film Spock did not spontaneously assault Kirk; he was goaded, perhaps extensively.

* It is strange that Spock's pon farr ended there. Earlier in the episode, he explained that during pon farr, a Vulcan male has to "join with his wife" (I'm taking this as the 1960's polite euphemism for sex) or DIE, simple as that - which is why the Enterprise absolutely HAD to go to Vulcan. Since Spock didn't get it on with whatserface, this is an example of an instance in Star Trek where one plot point contradicts another plot point in the very same episode. Either that, or Spock is simply ignorant of what seems to be a very crucial part of his own culture and physiology.

And I notice that in both those pictures the ground significantly lower and we seem to be looking more down, than in the picture with Kirk on the bike where we are sort of looking up.

It's all about percption. He's probably a little further away than that but not much.

OH...
MY...
DEAR...
GOD...

I cannot believe I am actually reading this drivel. WHO CARES how big the ship looks from any distance???

My God....I would have pulled JJ aside and smacked him in the mouth for even THINKING about doing Star Trek.

Because the Trek fans are the biggest group of whiners and children EVER.

Arguing about the ship sizes....Good Lord.

Let the flaming begin.

I could only watcha bout three minutes of the review before I HAD to shut it off!! Those two guys are annoying. Little details like "Kirk can't drive" really are only for Nerds. I'm sorry. I shouldn't say that. Fans are entitled to their own opinions, but aren't some things going to far? According to these guys we should never see a car chase scene again because it has already been done! These guys are losers

Well, you've got a point. The fact is that some people take Star Trek very, very seriously, sometimes to what I and some other people would consider the point of comedy. The attitudes of many people before the trailer came out changed so dramatically once it was released it was comical - I'm vaguely reminded of this video.
