I reckon it's for the same reason the crew's uniforms have Trek-symbol badges, rather than patches.

its perfectly logican, vulcan is not poisonous with gasses to have a different color sky,its just a desert,in fact the tos episode amok time was faulty to have an orange sky cause they wanted to add realism, misplaced if i may add

Good point, actually. I guess the tech advisors figured out that a different-colored atmosphere means a different atmospheric chemical composition, which would preclude humans from being able to walk around and breath normally.

Actualy Amok Time showed a Red Sky, then in the rest of Star trek it's ben orange or gold.

I can understand updating the look of things, But Giving Vulcan a Blue Sky kinda takes away some of the unique beauty of the planet, Im not trying to say my childhood has been raped, it hasen't.

But I have to wonder, Did JJ also give his vulcan a Moon?

I don't know about JJ; Robert Wise gave Vulcan at least two moons for The Motion Picture.

to be honest, I actually have always liked this shot, so it was a bit of a revalation to me to find out that the Sky had not been intended this way.

Could humanoid life actually exist on a planet with a sky that wasn't blue? Although, I've seen Earth's sky turn some pretty strange colors during certain weather phenomena. I've seen the Earth's sky turn Green, Grey and Orange. Grey most often, due to clouds overcasting the sky. Green during a tornadic thunderstorm when I was a child. And Orange during a dust storm, also when I was a child and going to Elementary School. The sky turned a dirty orange and then the dust came. It was so thick, I wondered whether our teacher was going to be able to lead us back inside the School building. When it was over, dust was blowing in drifts, like snow.
