The anniversary of the day we herded the last of the Native Americans onto reservations!!! After giving them smallpox blankets! Funny how we never teach our children just how advanced the Cherokee and Iroquois were... we just kind of imply that they were one step above barbarians. Grrrrrr!

Sorry, sorry, I've just been biting my tongue all month at my kid's nursery school. I don't want to lay that kind of trip on him when he's too young to understand just what we did to those poor people, some of whom were the ancestors of my hubby. Grrr.

Dwelling on the negative of what happened isn't good either though. We should be thankful that we (For the most part) Have realized what we did was wrong.

I will, of course, assist in any way possible. But the best thing I can usually do, is to stay the hell out of the way. The cook knows what they're doing far better than I do, and has skills far beyond my culinary skills, which really aren't all that bad. But I leave it to the professionals, and it always turns out to be an incredibly good meal. I love turkey, I prefer dark meat, but can inhale and wolf down white meat at every bit the rapid rate as the dark. I adore mashed potatoes and gravy, white gravy or brown, makes no difference. I'm not a stuffing lover, although I usually eat a small portion of it. I like cranberry sauce, hot rolls and green beans, corn and hot buttered carrots. I intensely dislike broccoli and asparagus and would rather line a ditch with those two vegatables than consume them. For desert, I like pies. Pecan, Pumpkin, Custard, you name it. I like pies.

So not the same day every time?

Why Thursday?

Why not Thursday, would be a better question. Not to mention the fact that it allows most people to have a four day weekend full of good food, parades, football and family. It also allows for travel time between one home and another.
