The three-picture deal is standard boilerplate for such franchise films, and was first talked about months ago when some of the cast were announced. I think Pegg might have been one of the first to comment on it officially. Good to have further confirmation of it, though!

And now that the new film is closer to becoming a theatrical reality, talk of additional films start to carry some weight as anticipation and buzz builds around this first one. This will only increase as the calendar marches toward May 2009.

It's nice to get another perspective on the footage and how things seem to be shaping up. But as Pine says, multi-picture deals are standard in case the first one is successful enough to generate a sequel.

Which reminds me, I've not heard much of any news about Majel Barret-Roddenberry in relation to the film. I believe her health isn't the best, so I was kind of expecting her voice would not be used.
