Default Should JJ do a new Star Trek Series?

I know you guys....

We haven't even seen the movie yet. But I honestly get the feeling he's testing the waters along with Paramount/CBS to see if he can make a new TV series out of this.

What do you think?

I heard the actors signed on to a 3 picture deal in case this movie is successful, so I guess they'd go for it if the money's to be made.

I picked maybe, cause I don't know. This may only work once, a reboot. I'd rather see Trek move forward after this as a new series or movies. I just don't want a situation where they're making TOS movies with this new cast, especially if they're to take place during the five year mission unless there is something to push Trek forward. What I'm saying is I don't want these movies, if more are made to be just cheap imitations of TOS. I'd rather see something new, not just a rehashing or homage to TOS.

I think it would be good to make a TV series after these (hopefully) three movies. Maybe set it during the same time as the movies, but with a different ship and crew, so as not to conflict with the Enterprise's five year mission.

Perhaps with a certain captain Robert April onboard the USS Porthos???!

If he does, I hope it isn't for a long while yet; maybe after he finishes a trio of movies. Star Trek really needs an extended break from television to let the bad taste of past series fade, and let some demand build for a new show.

Assuming that all is true of what I have herd on the story, this is a new timeline, so a new series that overlaps the original 5 year mission could be very cool. How would this altered-timeline Kirk deal with ‘the Doomsday machine?’ and other threats that we saw, plus we only got 3 years of the 5 year mission. Not to mention the idea of actually developing the characters and story arc which was practically nonexistent in TOS. ST:TORS (the original reborn series) I am all for it!

I think the Doomsday Machine would be a great candidate for another movie. But I like the idea of another series happening after a couple movies have been released.

You can bet that if the movie realizes the kind of box office the Bond franchise has, CBS will want to get their own ''piece of the action.''
