Nero could certainly use a temporal transporter, but they wouldn't have to drag all that TCW nonsense into it. The less they complicate the film with lots of "canon clutter," the better chance it'll have of reaching a wide audience.

This movie is being aimed at bringing in the millions of casual Trek fans who watched TOS and TNG and tuned in and out of the rest of the shows.

Kirk and Spock are pop icons and have to be used, and no restrictions are needed, especially using unseen (for the most part) lousy plots from ENT.

Future Guy looked like he may have had a Starfleet uniform on.

So, I always thought we would find out it was Admiral Forest or someone from HQ, but.. the show was axed, so now we won't ever know :P

The current spoiler-rumor is that Nero is a 24th century Romulan who travels back in time to kill Kirk before he begins his numerous adventures. A "temporal transporter" sounds like as good a way as any for him to travel back in time. They don't have to spend 15 minutes explaining the Temporal Cold War to the audience. The ENT fans will get the reference, and the rest of the audience will just oooh and ahhh at the cool visual effect ILM comes up with to represent being beamed through time.

That's assuming ANY of this is true, of course.

I would like it if the movie refers to the TCW!! It would make sense if the future guy were a romulan to me!!!
I don't think that ENT was a failur at all!!!
It was a mistake of the fans how sabotaged it because they saw only the things they thought was wrong in their opinion!!
But the show and its concept was great at least in the last to seasons!!!
But without a chance from the fans it couldn't show its whole possibilities!!!

If they're going to ignore TOS, they're going to ignore Enterprise.

I’m a fan of Enterprise and I think this would be pretty cool to see however I don’t think it’s going to happen. I don’t think it would happen because there is too much back story involved that only Enterprise fans will understand unless the back story is explained in the movie. They want to make this movie for fans and for people who don’t know a thing about Star Trek so I don’t think they are going to explain past series in the film. I think little subtle references to Enterprise is the way they’re going to go like “hidden” things in the background. Unfortunately I think the Temporal Cold War ended at the beginning of season 4 which was a disappointing end to the whole thing.
