I'm still eagerly awaiting the many wonderful responses I'm sure the opening question will bring out.

Good to see The Saint being constructive for once. Don't belittle him for trying.

Of everything I liked about the series I would have to say Shatner's take on Kirk must be adhered to in this movie. I'm not talking about his mannerisms and physicality, but more his overzealous humanity and stubbornness in his ways.

I would particularly like to see some interworldy romance on his part, though, yeyah!

Serious answer - The Kirk/Spock/McCoy triumvirate! Don't mess with the dynamics of these three characters...

Less serious - I'd like to see soft-focus shots whenever a woman is in close-up. And those 'shaft of light across the eyes' shots too. You know the ones I mean?

That's it right there. You mess with this, you're deconstructing Trek. This dynamic was the heart of TOS. If anything, this Kirk/Spock/McCoy triangle is the last thing I'd like to see tampered with.

It seems that The Saint and I agree about something!
I've always been fascinated by the very concept of Sarek and Amanda. The idea of a human woman who truly loves a man who cannot return her "illogical" feelings is definitely a dynamic that could be explored.

I can't even contemplating answering this question as trashing canon to any extent is making me very sad.

Default It's definiately the trinity...

Yeah, I have to say it's the Kirk/Spock/McCoy relationship for me. I don't normally watch a lot of TV, aside from Star Trek, but those three in the relationship they have, in any setting, I can watch and enjoy.

And, of course, when I mentioned the Kirk/Spock/McCoy triumvirate I know THAT is the very thing which certainly WILL be different in the JJ Trek, but I'm hoping by the end of the film we'll see how the characters 'gel' to make this well balanced trio... And any sequel will have this firmly in place!

Seems that JJ doesn't agree when you consider that McCoy is very much taking a back seat in this movie.
