Respectively, I don't think so, It wouldn't take 5 minutes to explain what is going on with Pike. The shot of him in the trailer could very well have been a part of the Kobyashi Maru, it has been rumored that it will be in this movie, one of the magazines stated that we will finally get to see Kirk go through the Kobyashi Maru. The truth is, we have not seen enough to know anything. Abrams did show us a wonderful trailer but we really have no idea exactly what is gonna happen, what is real and what isn't.

Oh, great. Now there goes The Menagerie as well as The Cage.

We'll see. I believe the Kobyashi Maru scene will most likely appear early on before Kirk and McCoy board the shuttle for the Enterprise. Captain Pike has the con of the Enterprise for most of the movie until Kirk assumes command.

Nothing in canon states that Spock didn't eventually become first officer of the Enterprise under Pike.

Probably true (I'm not military) but I don't think it will be used because it will sound like Next Gen to the majority of viewers. We the hardcore know that "Number One" was originally Chris Pike's second in command....but that's about a 3 on the 1-10 obscurity scale, while Riker being "Number One" is a 7 or 8....

Default on another note....

I think you will find that the fight scene with Spock and Kirk on the bridge ends when Kirk utters the words ... logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few... to convince young Spock of his meeting with old Spock from the future...

That's probably a good bet, Omegaman....when we get closer to the release date we should have a thread in which we give our 10 or 20 "predictions" of what will be in the movie....

I would wager to say that Pike calls Spock number one because thats what he calls his first officer.
