Has anyone noticed the battle scene with the shuttles and the one engine starship?
Look closely at the background... Is this battle taking place at Earth's Space Dock? Isn't that Space Dock in the background...you know the one we see the Enterprise warping away from? Movies tend to do that...Give you a sense of miss direction by showing a scene of Enterprise leaving earth. Then showing a battle and the Enterprise dropping out of warp amist alot of debris. What if that battlefield was Earth...and Enterprise was returning and that's why we see shuttles engaged in battle.

This new ST looks AWESOME!!! Just, I hope the details (like the greenish color of the original 11-foot USS ENTERPRISE model) are in there & consistency is in there. The ship under construction featured in the preview is obviously an earlier version of the ENTERPRISE than the one in TOS for the 5 year missions.
I am detail-oriented. But, the action & fun of this new flim-it looks so great! |

I was thinking it might be the drilling rig the Kelvin comes up against. But since there's no clear look at it, it may be something else.

you already know more about this movie than I do....
One thing I like about this movie is that it's going to do a heck of lot more with Earth and other locations and that the what's been done (NOTHING) for the last 40 years for Trek...

On the subject of the young Kirk saying "Siberius," I would suggest that it is merely a matter of pronunciation since his first name ends with an "s" and the names are strung together closely. When I listened to it over again, I clearly heard a "T" in there.
Often, we hear things a certain way because our brains automatically look for certain patterns. For instance, when I hear the name of the toy company "Jakks Pacific," I can't help but hear "Jack Specific." It's just human nature. Besides, there are plenty of other undeniable references to Kirk's middle name being "Tiberius" (that is, as long as we overlook the middle initial of "R" on the tombstone created for Kirk by his old pal Gary Mitchell in "Where No Man Has Gone Before.") |

Pronunciation and hearing are both problematic. I left a message at another office and when the call was returned the woman wasn't sure of my name....She thought I might have said Evelyn.
I thought I was clear, but she said she played it twice.

At least she didn't call you Syberius.
