Default ''Quantum of Solace'' box office and Trek trailer link

In observing the ''bootleg'' copies of the Star Trek trailer cropping up on YouTube and the number of views those are getting...and then taking in the sizable box office for the latest James Bond outing...one has to wonder just how many Star Trek fans bought Quantum of Solace tickets just to see the trailer. While Quantum of Solace was most certainly expected to do a decent outing, I don't think one can easily discount the factor that Star Trek fans old, new or just curious might have played in the unprecedented outing...even if it was just the ''dealmaker'' in a Trek fan's decision to go see Quantum of Solace versus waiting for it on DVD. Man would I love to see those numbers crunched.

I'm sure ST had a huge impact...

I don't think so...I think most people didn't know there was a Star Trek movie on the trailer....Bond is more popular...by far...the box office returns are relfex the fame of the last movie and the excellent advertising the studio has done.

Bond may have more legs that Trek due to Casino Royale, but Trek didn't hurt. Saquest, you negative poopy.....

It would be cool if they tracked it. I for one fall into the category of "Would have waited for the DVD, but since the trailer was attached...".

I agree with Saq on this. I am sure some fans saw QoS just to see the trailer, but the overwhelming majority were probably there for Bond and unaware of the trailer.

I agree too. I think the only way non-fans would have known is if they come to this or other Trek-related sites, or read EW magazine.

BTW Mr. Q: Don't Tread On Me, ok?

I would be curious to know what part of the number referred to people only coming for the trailer, then again it's opening numbers are on par with Bourne Ultimatum's opening, and they are similar genres, so perhaps a lot of it is simply based on the good reaction Casino Royale enjoyed generating interest.

I would have to agree as well. QoS was a great, great Bond movie too. I wanted to see that movie long before I knew the Trek trailer would be attached. I'm a huge Bond fan. But when I heard the trailer would be attached, my excitement level just blasted off at Warp 10!

One other thing i've noticed on this thread is that...finally all us fans seem to be agreeing on something about this new movie! What a change.
