Of course.

It's the same with the Cardassian sunrise... could be explained, but worries me.

Warbird is big, Bird of Prey is small seems to be the easiest way to distinguish them. But if we get confused over this, why should be expect Mr.Abrams to know these Trek subtleties? Isn't that the idea, to bring fresh blood in, while having also folks in the team who are Trek viewers / fans ?

Klingon Warbird? Maybe it was a slip-up or minor mistake? Doesn't bother me one bit. Maybe it wasn't a mistake? Maybe the Klingons DO call a larger D7 type ship a Warbird. That isn't a violation of canon. They can call the ship whatever they want, it doesn't mean that it can't change in the future, which we consider "canon"

Full power to the Canon Cannon!

...No, in all seriousness...
We know the Klingons and Romulans shared technology, including ship designs. Both have ships designated 'Birds of Prey'. Both had D-7 battlecruisers. Why shouldn't the Klingons have a vessel called a 'warbird' too? It's not like the previous Trek episodes have shown us every class of ship ever produced.

That, and it could be a slip of the tongue by Abrams. After all, it's only the most... fervent of fans who get worked up over details like this

Just remember the D7 was also given to the Romulans and thus you could say it's as first big battleship some kind of antecessor to the Romulan D'deridex-class.

Even in Enterprise when B&B were still working for Star Trek that error was made onscreen. And they knew Star Trek for a while.

Wrong. That spaceship from "Balance of Terror" was a Romulan "Bird of Prey".
So that isn't a right differentiation.
He kinda has a point.

That is true. Scimitar, Dderridix and Norexian are all Warbirds...

That's what I was thinking...
