New MacBook. Since you own a previous generation MacBook, though, I'm sure you've seen (and drooled at) the current model just as I have. If only I had the customers for it, even the 13.3 "low end" model in the current lineup would do me just fine, and in fact, compared to my low-end Mac Mini would be a huge step up.

Since you're looking at netbooks, obviously gaming isn't a priority, so my suggestion would be to ditch Acer altogether and, if you're looking for quality, go for the HP Mini 1000. You can load it with either XP or HP's pretty little in-house Linux distro, which reviews indicate is not only functional but rather elegant.

Oh, and my one and only Gateway led me to forever after refer to the brand as 'Goatway.' Haven't touched an 'all-in-one' desktop since, and despite the fact that the Dell XPS Generation 5 I bought back in '05 thrilled me like a rainstorm over a crowd of girls in white t-shirts, and the HP IPAQ 4705 I owned was as rock solid and sexy as a female American Gladiator, I'm leery even of their all-in-ones.

So anyway, long way around saying I'd steer clear of Gateway if'n I was you. Like Acer, their stuff has always struck me as just a stumbling half-step above eMachines' bargain basement garbage.

My desktop is like Han Solo's Millenium Falcon, the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. I've made a few modifications myself. If I had left the old beast the way she was when I bought her, she wouldn't even be capable of internet travel.

Hubby and I must have been amongst the lucky ones - my Gateway desktop from 2000 is still going strong (even if I pawned it off on my Mom when I got a new Dell), and hubby's laptop withstands anything - switching out drives, lots of add/removing programs, etc.

I suppose it depends on what you're going to use it for.
