Default Acer Laptops= Total Crap

Just got my Acer laptop back from Best Buy for the FIFTH TIME in 2 MONTHS!
Got Windows Vista reloaded for the SEVENTH TIME!!!!
It's driving me crazy!
2 Gigs of Ram
160 GB HDD
Wireless b/g
Celeron CPU
CD-WR/DVD-ROM Drive (broken, expensive to fix )

It is absolutely awful.
If i do anything besides web browsing (ANYTHING) it shuts down on me, or has a program malfunction (or in the case of the last 2 times, i get a BSOD)

I'm thinking about selling it, but my neice isn't done using my MacBook.
(I let her borrow it for her last year of school, due to her iBook G4 breaking)
So? What should i do?
I've looked at some replacememnts, and despite the fact that EVERYTHING about Acer is supposed to completely suck, this is a cheap "netbook" that Acer makes that is apparently the greatest quality thing you can get from them.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115510

I could sell my current Acer Laptop for 400 bucks.
Opintions?

Dell seems to make some decent Inspiron laptops for around 500 bucks. My roomie got one, and it runs like a raped ape. Trying to remember the specs...

I think 2GB Ram, 90GB HDD, Windows Vista, I think it uses and Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and even has an HDMI output so you can hook it up to an HDTV.

Now the laptop I plan to get will be a gaming rig laptop like its desktop cousin. A Gateway FX laptop. I think it has 2-3GB RAM, 120GB HDD, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, Nvidia 8800GT graphics processor, CD/DVD burner, and HDMI output. Costs round 1200 though. But, I will save for it.

I wonder if XP might serve you better? I've heard that Vista is very fussy and many things have to be just right before it runs properly; XP is a lot less fussy, perhaps.

Yeah, if you thought ME was fun, Vista will be a blast...

Hubby has a Gateway laptop that he treats like a punching bag and has never ever had a problem.

DELL. Inspiron 1525, base price about $499. I got my wife one and she loves it. You can even get them with XP.

I'd call Acer and raise hell about the thing. How old is it? Is it still under warrany?

I've recently rebuilt my daughter's old HP laptop and I'm using it now. It's not fancy by any means, but it's great for surfing.

I have never had a problem with Vista. I got a refurb gateway from tigrerdirect. I used the install disc to reinstall Vista without all the gateway junk. No problems. Not one crash.

I have an Acer monitor and It's wonderful. I never had the slightest problem with it. The picture and colors are marvellous. In fact, my only complaint is that the screen isn't big enough. I've had this same monitor for at least two years. Of course, I have it hooked up to a brand name desktop, but nonetheless, it's perfectly adequate (and then some) for everything I need to do with it. My CPU has given me some problems, but it's not an Acer.
