Jumping to conclusions too early is not logical.

I think "confused Matthew" is way off the mark. His nice and neat categorizing of Trek fans into two groups is wayyyyy off. Being on this site I have seen the many, many various points of view and the huge differences when it comes to all things Trek.

I have adopted your phrase "all things Trek"!! I know a good phrase when I see it, or hear it!

I meant that there are wayyy more than two types of Trek fans. There are hardcore canonites. There are those that like or dislike the various series. There are costume wearing fans. etc, etc...

I am the type of fan that generally likes everything I have seen and am not too critical of writing or plot. In hindsite I can say things could have been better or should have been different. But I support all Trek and will do so with this new movie even if I don't like some of the sets, the acting, the writing....whatever

Knock yourself out...I love it too.
I was watching the Houston Texans play the Minsota Vikings in a foot ball game.

The annoucer notes that the two players on opposite sides are so close to eacher before the play starts that they could have been...."in a vulcan mind meld"...

LOL....*sigh* that''s an All Things Trek ...moment right there....I love it.
Because Trek is in so many places in our lives.

Oh yeah...
The hard core "canonites" oh yeah that may be me.

Have YOU ever worn a costume...say proudly....
I never had...but have to admit I did want it when I was a kid.

yeah...I'lll have to give the sets a break.
what's important to me is the STORY...I can forgive anything for a great story.

I am not "canonite". I do pick up on many of the errors in the writing, but they usually don't bother me. I really enjoyed ST:Enterprise so you can see the new look was NOT an issue for me (I did snap the NX-01 was an Akira rip-off when I saw the ship the very first time)

I have never worn a costume. For many years I had a TNG communicator on my leather jacket. Many people recognized it as being from Trek, others did not. I also wore an "assimilate this" t-shirt with a big picture of Worf on the front to the opening of First Contact. I have been to only one convention in my entire life! Only because they are not popular around here and I can not afford to travel very far to go to one.

Great example of an "all things trek" moment!

I'll say it I've worn a ST costume, in front of thousands of people. (ST: Generations was VERY popular in my town the first night)

I want to get a Star Trek: First Contact type uniform. I want a good reproduction of the actual costumes worn by the actors, not just a cheap Holloween costume.

Same goes for an Obi-Wan type Jedi costume to include the cloak.
