This process takes a long time because Paramount is trying to introduce TREK to new audiences who have movie interested beyond TREK, and they visit those partner sites for that reason. Get new fans on board and used to TREK news reports 'out there', then you can bring them 'home'.

Effectively, the answer is: if you want to see new stuff from Paramount, don't waste your time posting here, go to TrekMovie.com or Aintitcool or really, just about any other site....heck, E is probably more likely to debut something new than this site.
I believe I was able to watch the first trailer on VideoOnDemand the day Cloverfield came out, but that the official site didn't start for another couple of days, though I could be misremembering that.

Come on, are people REALLY fretting over 10 seconds? There are people on this site constantly combing the net for news on Star Trek, and then immediately post a thread to talk about it. You're talking just a minimal delay. Are we really involved in some sort of a "I saw the picture first" contest? Sheesh...

Agreed, OCT.
I'm still puzzled how we say time and again not to judge this film until we've seen it, yet ONE BATCH of new photos into the marketing campaign, we can already judge that the ST movie site will ALWAYS be behind the curve and useless for breaking TREK news. If conclusions are all we want to reach in November, it's going to be a long six months until May.

I wouldn't be fretting over 10 seconds if it was Paramount that took the 10 seconds to post the pictures here.
However, with rare exception, we get the pictures because someone else posted them first. Look at what happened with the "exclusive" releases.... the news was not broken by Paramount, it was broken by a poster....yes, a Paramount person came through and gave us more links to exclusive images on other sites, but really, couldn't that have been handled in a way that showed us that we were a priority? Just as an suggestion: When "exclusives" have been given to other sites, we could be provided that information by Paramount. Heck, it could be done in advance. "Tomorrow, Paramount will release "exclusive" images to the following sites:........" That would reward those of us who post here with information on where to find the pictures while still maintaining the "viral" aspect of the promotion. It would also benefit the sites that have been friendly to the movie by driving us, the silly people who post at the official site, to theirs. We can only judge how something will perform in the future based on how it has performed in the past or is performing now. That's all we've got.

I certainly can't argue with that analysis, good points about alerting readers here to upcoming exclusives even if they are granted to a partner site.
If some material isn't debuted here, it would be smart and respectful to fans to give us an official heads up on this board. That in no way would interfere with marketing partnership deals, but not leave us 'searching' for such exclusives in the dark. To our Blue/Red/Yellowshirt friends: might you suggest this tweak to the announcement of such info (boldly) going forward? Great idea, Eliza! As always, your wisdom leads to enlightenment.

Thank you!
It's sort of amazing how "old lady cranky" can be construed as "wisdom" but I'm willing to accept it....

No "cranky old lady" at all, Eliza! You presented a smart solution to the effect you and others described, which doesn't undo Paramount's marketing plans but which also doesn't leave loyal fans here constantly behind the curve on these new releases.
If the Powers That Be at Paramount are wise, they would adopt such a plan on this board to solve the dilemma and please everyone. Sounds like a simple solution to achieve a worthy goal to me.

The Powers-That-Be at Paramount need to listen to the fans, and the fans are speaking loudly. They want Shat.
