Less that, and more the trend to get half the presents at Christmas, and half for birthday. But my parents (my Mom, really) tried their best to keep the two as separate as possible -- no Christmas-wrapping on birthday gifts, etc.

In general, what sucks most is that more often than not, friends are not in town when my birthday happens. It tends to get 'celebrated' in January a lot instead.

On the other hand, there are much more important things to be concerned about in the world than this -- just one of life's little bummers on the grand scale of things.
