Exclamation Buck Rogers

Any one remember the old show?

I used to watch it ALL the time as a kid. I wonder if Sci-Fi channel ever thought of bringing that show back. It would certainly be better than Flash Gordon.

Something more in the spirit of the Buster Crabbe serials or the original comic strips would be more enjoyable than an update of the Gil Gerard show, IMHO...

If you come right down to it, Roddenberry ripped off the Buck Rogers origin story when he created "Genesis II," which we would come to know better decades later as "Andromeda"...

I saw some of it when I was a kid, but now I've been watching it on DVD and love it. I'm not sure how good a remake would be. If they keep the lighthearted feel of the old show, don't make it like the new Battlestar Galactica, then it could work.

Are you talking about "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century", the one that was made in the late 70's? They're airing it here on weekends but I don't watch it. I didn't even know it existed until they started showing reruns on Space.

Did anyone see the South Park where Cartman tries to freeze himself so he doesn't have to wait for the release of the Wii? It parodies Buck Rogers and even included the opening anthem.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century is amazing! One of my favorites. It's funny, in an issue of Starlog I have Gil Gerald and Buster Crabbe are interviewed and Buster comments on how out dated the special effect were in his serial compared to The 25th century revamp. Gil remarks that in twenty years time his shows special effects will be out dated so he shouldn't feel so bad.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century is a fun show but IMO does not hold a candle to the original Buster Crabbe serial. The camp charm of the original serial cannot be beat. Even better though are the Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon serials. They are the best! I love the sparklers in the engines.

And to think those were state of the art effects for a serial at that time!
