That's actually a curious thing i always wanted to mention. When I started posting I was an ensign, but I realised some were starting out as midshipmen. I didn't understand why that was - anybody know? It's just curiosity.

Admin(s) realized that there was a lower rank than MS, and then incorporated it into the scheme for newbies.
Either that, or your initial posts were so good that...
