Hello everyone.

Just a few tidbits Francine and I have learned over the last couple weeks.

We were actually there a couple days ago to take one last look around. It was Chad’s last day there. He will not be moving to the new location. He relocating out of town.

The new owner has bought everything left at the experience. They are taking apart the bar and restaurant and plan to rebuild it downtown. At least as close to the original as possible. The plan is to start with the bar, restaurant and wedding bridge first and then the rides. Don’t know of any major updates. But, there will be some.

The Enterprise is actually still at the old site in 4 pieces sitting on supports near the ticketing area. The other ships are still hanging up in the ceiling and believe it or not the lights are still on. They are trying to figure out how to get them apart and get them out of the building. The TNG Enterprise is huge and there’s no hole in the building big enough to get it out.

The restaurant area has already been taken out. The bar is next. Part of the retail area is gone. The rides are still there. The bridges are still there, but the TV parts of the video displays are gone. Cedar Faire took them to their other parks.
What I’m told is that the plan is to have something open by the new movie release. We’ll see. There’s tons of work to do.
I’ll post updates as I learn things.

Dang it! i wanted to go to Vegas just so I could go to the ST:Experience again!! now i'll have to wait. I really hope it reopens as planned. I also hope the retail area has more cool things and not just trinkets. I would like to buy stuff that I can't find anywhere else.

My wife and I went to Vegas in 2006 to get married. Our first order of business was to go get a marriage license. On our way back to the hotel (we stayed at the Aladdin, now Planet Hollywood), I saw that big delta symbol in the sky at the Hilton.

We stopped, made our way through, bought some stuff, fought some Borg, outran Klingons, then got some lunch.

We were considering going back to Vegas for our 5 year anniversary, so hopefully, I'll get to go have The Experience again.

Fitgerald's Casino and Hotel is on the same street.

Star Trek: The Experience Finds A New Home?

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and Neonopolis developer Rohit Joshi confirm that ST:TE may be headed downtown.

As reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal, Joshi confirmed that a deal was in the works. "You kind of shocked me," he said when asked unexpectedly about the possible move. "I don't know how to respond to that. We are in very serious negotiations. We think it would be a fantastic addition to downtown."

Joshi then showed a bound agreement with CBS licensing, who owns the rights to the Star Trek name.

Cedar Fair, who operated The Experience when it was at the Hilton, said it would not be operating the attraction downtown, but it was possible that it could be sold to a different operation. "We wouldn't be moving it," said Stacy Frole, Cedar Fair spokesperson.

According to Joshi, if the deal is made, Star Trek: The Experience could open as early as the first quarter of 2009 in the Neonopolis development, much to the pleasure of Mayor Goodman. "It would be ironic," said Goodman. "Perhaps the most successful place downtown could be Neonopolis, even though it has been an albatross around my neck all these years."
I was over at the Neonopolis recently. Nothing Trek-related there at all. It would seem that the story is an older one (i.e., published probably a few months ago).

Stories subsequent to the one above have basically put a wet blanket on expectations. The money isn't there on the part of the developer or lenders, it would appear.
