Trekkie. Just to spite those who seem to regard it as a pejorative. A friend of mine suggested that we call ourselves Trekkists. Might do.

You must be a Firefly fan. I have devoted Browncoat friends.

It is a pejorative term and that's just a fact of life; and if you look at some of the tantrums about this movie on other boards, it will only become even more apt.

Not that the 'Trekkie' or 'Trekker' thing matters, but my mother is a Trekkie, so, I'm a second generation Trekkie technically. Plus, Mr. Gene was down with 'Trekkie', So I am too.

I've always called myself a Trekkie, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Indeed, I am a Browncoat. You've chosen your friends well. And to clarify what I wrote earlier, calling myself a Trekkie is my way of telling non-fans that I don't care what they think about Star Trek or its fans. Trekkie being a pejorative is exactly the point. I guess the message to my fellow Trekkers/Trekkies/Trekkists, if there is one, would simply be to lighten up. Sticks and stones, right?

I've been a trekkie for 40+ years. It's all good.

lol I like the term "Trekkist", makes it seem kinda "struggling artist" in a way. I like either or and all...don't matter to me as long as it has TREK in front of it...didn't know this thread would illicit so much commentary.
