I'm not a trekkie nor a trekker. I'm a trekkist. :P
At least you're not a trekophile!

There's a great scene in the film Trekkies 2, in which a Star Trek fan talks about an incident during a Star Trek convention where Gene Roddenberry used the term "trekkies" to describe fans of the show, only to be corrected by a fan that stood up and yelled "Trekkers!" Gene Roddenberry responded with "No, it's trekkies. I should know, I invented the damn thing."

I call myself a Star Trek fan, just as I am a fan of other shows/franchises as well and overall I am a Sci Fi Fan, never made the distinction (such as Trekkie or Trekker) for a particular show.

I have never gone by either. I just call myself a Star Trek fan. Occasionally a 24thcenstfan too.

However, I have been called a Trekkie and a Trekker. I take no offense at being called either.

Just like other people here, I consider myself as a Star Trek fan - not a Trekkie or a Trekker - mostly because even though I love the franchise to pieces, there's never been a time when I was obsessed with it.

Whoa... I have to admit it takes balls to contradict Mr. Roddenberry like that but at the same time I find it a little disrespectful. Never in a million years would I have dared doing this...

Post Trekkie or Trekker?

What do you guys and gals think of the following?

Do you consider yourself to be a "TREKKIE", or a "TREKKER"?

Personally, having been a "Star Trek Fan" for 42 years, I consider myself to be a "TREKKER."

KEEP ON TREKKIN'

TC

Neither. Those epithets are old and passe and childish.
