I prefer Trekkie. To me, Trekker sounds like someone that hikes a lot.
Trekkie, just sounds like someone that enjoys all things Star Trek, which is me.
At work, some people call me Trekkie, though they don't believe it for some
reason, so there ya go.

Post I am a Trekker

I am a Trekker because I am a serious Star Trek fan.

A Trekker is also "one who treks". This fits me, and I would love to be among those who trek to the stars, I.E. a Star Trekker.

"Trekkie" is a what Star Trek freaks are referred to by outsiders, or perhaps self-professed ST freaks.
See: the "Trekkie" movies.

"Trekkie" is the Star Trek version of "Hippie".

I always thougt Trekkies prefer TOS and TNG, while Trekkers prefer DS9/VOY/ENT.

I did too, I thought it was a generation thing, not if you owned any merchandise.

I go with Trekkie, just because that's what Gene's vision was, to Gene there was no Trekker.

I always envisioned a trekker as one who makes trek and a trekkie be one who watches it...kind of like an employer makes/provides work and an employee does the work.

I'm just a fan of the show. I refuse any labels.

Well, as the name implies, I prefer Trekker. I started with TOS, and I think those of us around early on felt that Trekkie became a negative term for us, so we found a more adult term like Trekker we could feel comfortable with. Trekkie sounds like something a kid would be. I don't really care, call me Trekkie or Trekker, but I prefer Trekker. I just wouldn't feel right being Longtimetrekkie.

As one wise man once said, "Trekker is a trekkie who is too shy to admit it."

I'm not a trekkie nor a trekker. I'm a trekkist. :P
