I definately would not mind seeing a fleet battle but only if it makes sense in the film and not some fanboy type thing. I want the characters to be the main focus however.

Maybe we will see a battle at the start of the movie, which leads to Spock going back in time to save Kirk.

My dream is a big Star Trek movie without a single shot fired. Anything else is a compromise.

Forget the 14 year old kids who wants explosions or better yet, help them to grow up. Also remember that although an action movie ala Star Wars will attract one audience, it will repel another.

Why 14 year old kids? Do they earn money? Will they watch Star Trek? No.
They are imho too young, Star Trek's stories should be made in its complexity for an adult audience.

Yes but would you prefer a large number of anyone going to see it or a normal size of just sensible adults

Make a movie for the sensible adults. This would send shock waves across the world. Might get more attention than you think.

From what J.J. has said so far, this will be a "space adventure". TWOK was a battle throughout, and FC used one as a teaser. DS9 had the epic Dominion Wars.

How much should the fighting tie into the movie?

How big should the battles be? 2, 3, or fleets of ships?
This doesn't hold water; Nemesis had a whopping space battle. See the box office figures for details.

The choice I would have clicked wasn't on the list, because I'd have to know the story to know whether a battle (or battles) would be appropriate.

I have no problem with space battles, as long as they are properly motivated by the story. It's all about context.

A normal size of adults of course.
I am a fan, I don't get any money from 14 year old kids, so I just want to see a good story, it is clear what I prefer.

But you won't get a large size of anyone with a movie for 14 year old pubescent children. The 14 year old won't go into a scifi film and the adults won't go into a movie for kids.

I'm expecting a strong finale, as it's written from the Transformers guys. And a proper fight between Nero and Kirk.

Good Lord. I have refered to Chris Pine as Kirk! A strange feeling!

But the characters should still come first.
