I am curious about the interplay between the characters.
What happened in TOS took months to create.
I am wondering what kind of chemistry we will see form with this movie.
For me, past all the gimmicks and gizmos, is the story and the exploration of the human condition.
All the rest is trimming, but very, very nice trimming.

im wondering where you heard these rumors........

sounds good tho

but iv heard my own rumors......

According to UGO, the "The storyline is about a Romulan named Nero (Eric Bana) who travels back in the past to either severely cripple or eliminate the Federation by killing its greatest starship captain, James T. Kirk, before he could take command of the Enterprise. Kirk’s best friend, Spock, tries to undo the damage caused by Nero by following him through time."

There are at least five different points in time that will be shown: approximately 2280, when Kirk first takes command of the USS Enterprise, the time just prior to Kirk's birth, and Kirk at age ten and age twenty.

Other rumors are that Spock may witness the birth of Kirk, younger Spock may meet older Spock and they may mind-meld, an incidental character with the surname of Picard may be mentioned.

To read the full list of rumors, head to the link located here.

Trekmovie.com is reporting that Klingons may appear in the movie as well. In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Anton Yelchin had this to say, "Chekov is just on the Enterprise. A lot of it is green screen. I mean, the Enterprise itself, J.J.'s trying to shoot as much of it as he can with out green screen, but I think a lot of space is obviously green screen, what I’m looking at while seeing the Klingon warships."

Well, I sincerely hope, that is not true, because that is about the wost story I have heard in years!!

If that becomes reality (in the Movie), than Star Trek is really doomed - I wonder how you can be so stupid to put sth. like that up after ENT failed so grandiosely!!
It just escapes me....

Well, maybe harsh, but I really think, that whole time travel "nonsense" was that problem of ENT. That´s one of the reasons ENT got cancelled.

It is just too illogical, you run to fast the risk of overseeing sth. and the whole story makes no sense at all anymore.
And why are they so obsessed with timetravel, anyway? The world of Star Trek has so much more to offer.
Like s.o. said, it would be like "Back to the Future", (which is a really fun movie, by the way!!)
But thats the problem, you can put sth. like that in a comedy like BttF, but Star Trek is IMO much more seriously. It just does not fit, for me, anyway, of course.

But I would be very disappointed

Technically its time travel in an alternate universe/reality.

Yes TREK is more serious and complex than most would imagine.

Since all of this takes place in an alternate reality it will prove very interesting.

Story doesnt sound the best IMO. It will be interesting though.
