Default Vulcans: Vegetarians or Vegans?

I was dead sure that they were vegetarians, but I've discussed it with friends and now it all seems kinda blurry. What's the definitive answer to this?

vulcans do not eat meat.... unless it is to survive (say the are stranded on a planet with no plants fit for there consumption.. but they found a bug rich in nutrients)

Im not sure what the definition of vegan is... but vulcans choose a vegetable diet..

Vegans don't eat any animal product. So aside from meat, they don't eat any eggs or dairy, or "animal products". T'pol once used the phrase animal product, hence my confusion. Then again, she had a slice of pizza with cheese. I wish Gene were around to answer this.

Post Vulcans are vegan

Vulcans are vegan. Period.

I see Vulcans as the Buddhist monks of the galaxy.

Vulcans suppress their emotions (i.e. feelings), but they are highly philosophical and principled. It is wrong to harm any living thing.

They are also highly pragmatic and practical. Sometimes necessity is more important than principle.
