I suspect more December 25th in a Paramount film. That'll be a good motivator to get Trek fans to theatres on Christmas Day.

It'll probably get leaked that the trailer will accompany whichever film they go with. I would wait til then.

We'll get still photos around Thanksgiving, probably simultaneously released in entertainment magazines and on selected websites. I predict the first time we see a full trailer will be during the Superbowl.

As for a date for Trek, I think I'll be taking my beautiful wife.

Well, given that TREK needs to grab a wider audience as marketing for the film ratchets up in 2009, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Paramount did buy a spot during the Super Bowl... but it would NOT be the debut of the trailer.

I think that would be too late to premiere the full theatrical trailer, less than four months from release. But... I can see it being the first new TV spot for TREK, or perhaps the debut of a Trailer B which would then appear online the next day.

The cost of a Super Bowl spot wouldn't dissuade Paramount, I don't think, given what they'll be spending on the marketing campaign overall. Plus it has one added advantage of putting their spot in front of millions of eyes at one time (especially if it's a great NFL matchup)... a much harder task for a theatrical trailer.

Also, a sports event will draw a good portion of one demographic they'll definitely want to go see TREK: men under 40. Yet, the Super Bowl delivers a much wider TV audience than regular season NFL games, so the spot will also be viewed by women and younger audiences too... and simultaneously!

I have no clue if they'll actually buy a SB spot, but I can see how it might work well for the studio and the film. Time will tell.
