Default Shat message to Abrams

Scifi.com has a posting about Shatner in a message to Abrams. They say he blast him but to me it sounds like he was saying his side of the story. Sounds like a misscommunication issue to me.

The SHAT has spoken. That there is the possibility of him being in the next film!

If I understand correctly... a man who can't even get the studio to let him do a director's cut of his own film is going to talk his way into the next TREK movie?

First, it doesn't seem like an attack on Abrams at all and I have to agree there's some miscommunication going on...for example, Abrams said Shatner had been very vocal about not wanting to do a cameo, to which Shatner replies no one asked him to do a cameo...right, because he'd been all over the place saying he didn't want to just do a cameo, he wanted to be a central character to the film....having been told in advance that he didn't want to do a cameo, why would they offer him one? Perhaps, if Mr. Shatner is interested in a cameo in the next movie, he might shut up about how the movie needs to focus on him and instead, say something along the lines of "any opportunity to participate in a Star Trek movie would be a wonderful thing".

Shatner's little story about how one could use the transporter beam to bring Kirk back ignores the fairly obvious fact that the transporter wouldn't bring him back 20 years older and 50+ pounds heavier....it would bring him back just as he was at the time of the previous transport. I'm sure it was very easy, in a book to bring Kirk back. Movie makers do not have the luxury of relying on the audience's imagination....they actually have to show the characters on screen and nothing would make Shatner now look like Kirk 20 years earlier.

That said, there is still at least one potential "Kirk" storyline out there. Go back to the Nexus and he can be there....okay, not a Kirk that can come back out and galavant around the stars, but a Kirk that can give advice, a Kirk that can provide assistance. If Guinan can do it, so can Kirk. Maybe Mr. Shatner should write that out and propose it to Mr. Abrams.

Oh, and remember, time has no meaning in the Nexus, so our new crew is free to encounter the energy ribbon and young Kirk can meet up with his older "whisper" (or whatever it was Guinan called it) who can help him get back out of the Nexus but who gives young Kirk the knowledge that "he will die alone"....something Kirk "always knew".

Shat should just accept his days playing the Kirk charater are over. Maybe he should be thinking about how to keep Boston Legal on a few more seasons.

The man's 77 years old, if there is a Trek 12 and it takes 2-3 years the dude will be pushing 80. I for one do NOT want to see an 80 year old Kirk.
