Default What is your favorite Alien?

I would have to go with the first one. It brought suspense, horror and drama due to the fact that you barely see the Alien. I thought it was great, and that it should be brought back to theatres some time soon. I know it was made in 1979, but this film actually still gives me the creeps. Great movie!

The first was too boring, because the scenes in darkness or stroboscope were too long.

Why is there no "none of the above" category? But given the list, the original was best. Nothing shocks you like the first time you see a parasitic monster pop out of someone's guts. I liken that scene to the one in John Carpenter's "The Thing" when the dude on the operating table's head came off and grew spider legs. That was a doozy.

I kind of hold 1 and 2 equal, but I kind of agree that the first is slow and ponderous at the start, so the sequel edges it out a bit for me.

Aliens was the one for me. Space marines, pulse rifles, heavy machine guns..."let's rock!"

It didn't have the high scare factor of the original, of course, but it upped the action/adventure quotient and made Ripley likeable (I couldn't say that about her in the first film).

That's what made it so suspenseful. You never knew what was going to happen. And John Hurt was great!
