I'll be interested to see if/when Nimoy/Spock and Pine/Kirk meet - what Spock's reaction is

Vary good! I feel it best that old Spock lets young Spock know his true Identity, theres so much more you could play off of that why. it be a some what of a cop-out if Old Spock said he was old uncle Spock or some other Valcan name that starts with a "S"

Considering that the average Vulcan is supposed to be extremely intelligent not to mention an adherent of formal logic, I'd say lying to even his younger self would be like Dr. Watson trying to lie to Sherlock Holmes. If they play it straight, there won't be any point in future Spock telling younger Spock anything but the truth.

But as I've noted before, Vulcan logic is to real logic like McDonald's burgers are to the burgers your dear ol' Daddy flipped on the backyard grill.

There's a bit of a deja vu quality to this thread...as though we've done it before....but I guess that's to be expected. We've done so much.

My feeling is that Elder Spock will reveal his identity to his younger self. I seem to recall pointing out that his knowledge that time travel works might be responsible for the easy way he accepts it when it happens in Tomorrow is Yesterday. He doesn't doubt that the ship has travelled through time because he knows that he, himself, will do the same thing.

I initially thought that Elder Spock's identity would not be revealed to the rest of the crew, but the knowledge that Nimoy shot scenes with Simon Pegg that Quinto says are really funny changed that. I think that Elder Spock needs to make "futuristic" adjustments to the Enterprise engines for some reason and won't let Scotty watch, which would drive Scotty crazy...

Great idea! Maybe some adjustments to the phasers are in order too?

"Please, can I just take a wee peek, Mister Spock?"

"No, Mister Scott, I regret that I am unable to comply as even this small knowledge might do irreparable damage to my timeline."

"But....what if I promise not to use it, Mister Spock?"

"I hardly think that is credible, Mister Scott."

So will he pretend to be a distant family member?
