If I dont hear chimes or trumpets from the start of the opening credits it aint gonna be good day for me.

I love startrek and starwars... and both themes at the start of the movies are epic. You know what is to come just from the sound of the first bar of music. makes the hair on my neck stand up every time.

I will give the enterprise theme credit... but I still think it sucked as the title theme.

Now if they want to throw in some "old earth music" with modern bands and music, go right ahead. Not gonna hurt. Look at first contact with the juke box and phoenix's stereo.

Remember how Tim Burtons original batman had great music only to be interupted by a prince song in the middle. That was so so bad.
Of course those batman films were dogs but that was so out of keeping with the film and the rest of the score.

i'm not sure there'd be much that would work for star trek... if they were to go with a big name, it would have to be in the classical style, but i think we will find it will be simply instrumental...

not many space movies have had popular music soundtracks...

NEVER! Trek has a tradition of wonderful classical themes and it should remain that way. It shouldn't be cheapened with some silly contemporary rock song. It was bad enough when they did it with Enterprise. And if they ever dare using headache-inducing music such as Nickelback or Metallica in the movie, I think I'm going to be sick... *gags*

lmao, "he's dead Jim, he's dead jim".

Ok, but really. I guess (takes a deep breath), IF it were a good song, I would be open to it. Far be it form me to be one of those people that are closed minded. Even though I think the classical stuff should not be messed with, I would not totally judge it until I heard and seen it on the Big Screen.
