Default We've talked about Trailers, but what about merchandise?

When will we be seeing toys, props, games, action figures, kids comforters with the Enterprise on them, posters, books and maybe an energy drink? When, blast it all, WHEN? I'm waiting to eat some Star Trek O's as a nutritious part of my balanced breakfast!

Does Art Asylum still have the rights?

If they make a PC RPG, I hope they give the rights to Bethesda, They could do all of the alien races easily, plus we'd get close-up of every character when we're interacting with them. I could easily envision an awesome Star Trek PC role-player being made by them. Plus, they already have all of the Starships down pat from Legacy.

I don't think we'll see anything until the movie is released because it will have the potential to spoil too many surprises if props and peoples' likenesses are available too soon. I think Master Replicas is getting the license for the official panythose by next June.

I went to Google to get a cereal box to do a mock up and well...

Must have already been a cereal with ST Live Long and Sugar Smack.

"Space energy comes from Sugar Smacks"?

I'd love to see a cereal box like that.

Art Asylum lost the rights to do Star Trek toys some time ago, but they continue to make them under Diamond Direct, who has the license to do toys from TOS-ENT, as well as the first ten movies.

Playmates Toys--who held the license during the '90s--has the rights to do toys from Star Trek XI. Early reports are that it is to be a pretty big toyline, including ships, vehicles, phasers, communicators, etc., as well as action figures in possibly three different scales from a more "rough & tumble" 3.75-inch line to a highly detailed 7-inch line. A sneak peak was for special eyes only at the last major Toy Fare and Playmates was ready to launch it all sometime this November, but that's now been pushed back to April, I think...

A number of other non-toy licensees have been said to be involved as well, so unlike with previous films, Star Trek XI merchandise of all sorts will be very present in retail stores, grocery stores, specialty shops, etc.

I'd say we'll see the big merchandise push a couple months before the movie comes out.

*Because a trailer was mentioned, I'm still hoping for at least a teaser in Nov. or Dec.*
