Yes I would have had Buffy in there, but have never been a Stargate fan at all.

I think both #1 and #2 really had a major impact on TV and society. I have never watched B5 or the new BG so I cannot comment. SG-1: eh, maybe top 21. I def would have moved Dr. Who up a few notches, but that's just me.

WOW, TWO Trek series made the cut?

I can't believe Star Wars Didn't make the cut.

Our cell phones were designed to look like Star Trek communicator, the early Mac's stored information on round discs, but the designers wanted them to look like the square discs in Star Trek so they built an elaborate case and opening system into them....

But...if you go with just straight consistency of writing over time....then, you have to go Twilight Zone, right? Plus...really, didn't Twilight Zone prove it could be done? Didn't it show the networks that there was a market for science fiction? Props and points do have to go to the progenitors....which leads me to ask, why is The Outer Limits that far down? I'd have expected it to be in the top 10.
Excellent points! I'd add this too: I think STAR TREK TOS was more *influential* popularizing science fiction, which seems to fit the poll more accurately.

I think TWILIGHT ZONE may have been a better television series than TREK, in terms of consistent writing quality and the variety of subjects it could tackle within its anthology format (an inherent advantage over TREK). But I think it has a broader reputation than "just" science fiction, which TREK focused on exclusively.

Personally, I'd put TREK-TOS at #1 with TZ at #2, both very deserving series worthy of all acclamations, including topping a poll like this.

B ut TZ had the advantage of not taking place in the same format all the time, as Trek did. TZ and Trek run real close in my book.

20 Greatest Sci-Fi shows. I can live with it.
Given it's durable popularity, I would have put Star Trek at number 1, but I'm really not going to worry about it. That list was put together by a bunch of egg heads whose opinions are worth nothing more than their own satisfaction. In other words, non-consequential.
