I'm a bit surprised at the order of #2 and #1, but overall it hits the highlights well enough.

I can live with that. I suspect that there was a lot of debate on the #1 and #2 positions.

I'd have gone with Star Trek in #1 because it's had such an impact on our life. It's put terms like "phaser", "Klingon", "mind meld" into every day use by people who've never seen the show (how are we liking that vague Microsoft ad where Jerry Seinfeld discusses mind melding with Bill Gates, btw?). Our cell phones were designed to look like Star Trek communicator, the early Mac's stored information on round discs, but the designers wanted them to look like the square discs in Star Trek so they built an elaborate case and opening system into them....

But...if you go with just straight consistency of writing over time....then, you have to go Twilight Zone, right? Plus...really, didn't Twilight Zone prove it could be done? Didn't it show the networks that there was a market for science fiction? Props and points do have to go to the progenitors....which leads me to ask, why is The Outer Limits that far down? I'd have expected it to be in the top 10.

It's good for stimulating discussion, but it's just a list that's as subjective as any other. Perhaps The Outer Limits was percieved as being too close in style to Twilight? I would have thought B5 would have been top ten though.
