The bravest in a crisis since (or should that be before?) Sisko. Example the Xindi Crisis. Not afraid to do the unthinkable, even when the morality is questionable. He has more wits then he's credited for. See "Stratagem", where he deceives Degra to get the location of their weapon. He can also back away from the brink and talk peace. I think the angle the writers were going for with Archer was the flawed historical hero. Watch "Detained" followed by "Desert Crossing". He had an impact on the alien races he went out of his to assist and in someways his reputation had little basis in fact. That's not meant to be a put down either... look at your own history and you'll there's a legend, then there's the truth.

One reference WAS made to Quantum Leap, by having Sam Beckett's Holographic friend Al appear in an Enterprise episode....

Oh, I never saw that episode. Just like the episode where Archer sees a future Enterprise way in the future. I have never seen that episode.

He's got a few good moves on the fighting scene, plus his ability to take on a warbird while cloaked. and the matrix dodge in the pilot
that said he was dedicated to his crew and called them on a first name basis, (Picard woud never do that unless in private, later seasons or the movie era) Good man.

His super dedication to his crew / Explorer attitude. Archer was a really good character.

There is a great clip on Youtube of "The Real End Of Quantam Leap." Where Archer "leaps" back into Beckett's body and is home again...lol..it was great!!!

You mean aside from his great body?! *scratches head*
Just kidding... I'd have to say his contagious enthusiasm about exploring space and making first contact with new species. Also, he never shied away from making very difficult moral choices if it meant saving his crew (or some of his crewmen).

I chose dedication, but he was also mission focused perhaps to a fault. I'll accept that.
