So.... for the fans who desperately want Shatner to be in JJ's film: what will you do if he's not in it? How will that affect your enjoyment of the movie, if at all? I'm curious.

I think we will cross that bridge when and (big) if we come to it, but as of now, I FULLY expect Shat to be in the film or one of the DVD release editions (CGI??)

Aye, there's the rub. Abrams, Orci and Kurtzman already came to that bridge a year ago... and they couldn't find a way across the chasm of plot problems created by Shat-Kirk's death 18 years ago. As a fan, you have the luxury of skipping around that issue, but they don't.

Also, if they're going to put Shatner in the film, they won't then cut him out and toss him into the DVD Deleted Scenes... since that would kill your "hype" theory of Shatner filling movie theaters with his presence, no?

I can only assume Paramount would prefer to hype BOTH the feature film and the DVD... why not make that box office golden fortune TWICE instead of once?
