OK, it seems to me there is alot of tension between members of this forum who disagree on the importance of versimilitude and the faithfulness to Star Trek canon.
I'm just generally insterested to see the figures, so here's my question: Which of the following is more important to you to make Star Trek an amazing film? a) A strong story full of depth, meaning and contemorary relevance. b) An accurate and faithful representation of the Star Trek universe in all its glory.

Personally I would like this movie to stand alone as a solid work of cinema. I will see it and enjoy it regardless of its faithfulness to canon. To me it is more important that the movie has depth and meaning.

Why not have an open mind until we actuallt SEE what the film looks like?

Because human instincts don't work that way. If I see magma rolling down the side of the mountain toward my house, I'm not gonna keep an open mind about whether or not it's fun to splash around in, I'm just getting the hell out. :P

I personally am going to give this film the benefit of the doubt. It easy to be negative, alot harder to try and be open minded.
