My theory is that as the movie starst right after the events of Nemesis Picard will be early in the film. Picard and crew do battle with Nero and are destroyed due to Nero's superior tactical powers.
Nero then goes back in time to destroy Kirk with vastly superior technology and realises before his death that he had made a huge mistake

My educated guess: there won't be any familiar folks from the 24th century besides old Spocl in it. Rumour about Stewart on set would have spread already.
Besides, although the idea that Nero is opposed to the peace process in the post-Nemesis time seems the most likely plot, it is based on a biased fan perspective; people who are unfamiliar with Trek don't get that plot without a little setup of the political situation. |
