oh god, I hated the last episode. Such a let down from In a Mirror, Darkly. I think they could have done justice to the show.

In A Mirror Darkly was an astonishing episode. The Defiant rendered in gorgeous CGI by EdenFX made my heart fluster. I loved that episode.

I'm just glad it's back in a regular timeslot - hopefully to engage some people who, after having put some distance from the show, can see that it really was a very good production, in retrospect. Or it's a great opportunity for those who missed it first/second time around due to ubiquitous time slot issues.

Big love for the Mirror episodes. I think the last episode would've been awesome as a stand-alone episode in say Season 1, at least to shut the bleating canonistas up -- as a coda to the series, I think the Terra Prime arc was much more suitable.

Edit: Wow, thread back from the dead!

One can always ignore These are the Voyages... and consider Terra Prime as the finale for oneself, at least that's what I do. Terra Prime has little goodbye moments for all seven characters and Archer's speech, or in short anything a good finale should have and the last episode does not have,

I agree, These are the Voyages... isn't the best finale, but I thought I read that it wasn't really suppose to be the finale or something. It was like they were going to do it anyway. I don't think I buy that, but I don't seem to loathe it like some do.

Yeah, they wrote the script in the 3rd season, but couldn't fit it into the schedule for season 3. Then they wanted to run it as a stand-alone episode in Season 4 (which wouldn't have been so bad), and when word came down they weren't getting picked up for Season 5 I guess they were just so in love with the idea that they couldn't leave it alone, so they decided to make it the finale. So, a overnight rewrite to put it in 2161 instead of 2155, throw in a mention of the UFP, gratuitously kill off a character, et voila! Series finale!

I hope B&B still lose sleep over that.
